Apple to allow installation of 'third-party apps' in Europe

Android users already had the facility of sideloading i.e. installing third-party apps from outside the App Store, but one of the problems with using Apple phones i.e. the iPhone is that third-party apps outside the Apple Store are installed on them. Cannot be downloaded.

In this regard, there is good news for Apple users living in the European Union that Apple is going to ease restrictions on side loading in its mobile phones.

According to the website 'Android Police', Apple is going to ease restrictions on its sideloading policy after the legislation with the European Union (EU).

Apple will revise its app policy in response to the EU's Digital Markets Act.

Apple will launch a new program called 'Web Distribution' which will allow app developers to offer their apps directly on their website instead of the Apple Store.

After this change, iOS users will be able to install third-party applications through the web.

It should be noted here that this relaxation by Apple regarding third-party apps has been done only with respect to European Union countries, while some guidelines of Apple in this regard will also be taken into consideration.

In this regard, EU developers must be enrolled in the 'Apple Developer Program' in any case, while app downloads will be allowed only under the registered domain of App Store Connect.

In addition, developers must provide assurances on how they will use user data and handle government matters.

If you are an iPhone user and live in the European Union, you will find some changes in your phone after the iOS 17.4 update.

A 'notarization process' will also be rolled out to reduce security risks for users using iOS.

This means that the app will go through a screening process before being installed like the Google Play Protect function in Android.
