Malcolm Richards was also the leading fast bowler of the Antigua cricket team in his time. He later received a scholarship and came to Antigua Grammar Secondary School to pursue further studies. He also scored his first century while playing in the Inter School Cricket Tournament on behalf of Antigua Grammar Secondary School. But at the age of 18, he quit his studies and joined the St. Johns Cricket Club with the intention of completing his cricketing passion. Apart from this, he also started working in a restaurant to meet his everyday needs.
